hey guys, also posted the last thread in Orange Mobicarte. Decided to play around with the sim card and find out what else Orange changed. Its all bad news, unfortunately. When using your mobile, if you do not use Opera Mini as a browser, you get charged per minute even if you are in any of the unlimited plans. I have a Nokia E52 and, when I used the Nokia browser to surf, I got charged. But if I used Opera Mini, no charge.
I also have a program called MobiWeather installed. usually, I do not get charged whenever I update the weather on my phone. Now, I do get charged. When using Nokia OVI maps, I used to not get charged. Not anymore now. I get charged when using Nokia Maps.
More importantly, I used to never get charged when I attached it to my USB modem/dongle and use my computer. Now, I get charged ! It seems like its time based and not data based though.
Now, I am not 100% sure if this is because I just signed up for the free internet weekends thats why there are so many exceptions. Maybe if I just signed up for internet day, it would be different. I highly doubt it, though.
It looks like Orange has stopped being an attractive source for prepaid mobile internet in France.
Would be great if somebody could verify my findings and offer alternatives.
