"the best company is www.cargallamadas.com.ar or www.cetelsms.com.ar/comercios" I see that these companies are in Argentina or SA. Does anyone know of a good provider in the U.S? I do presentations and, sometimes, they're in areas with no wifi and I also travel to wilderness areas in my part of the country.

Does anyone know of a SIM that allows 3G internet access at resonable prices per Mbyte or preferably at a flat rate while roaming in many countries?

The pages in this wiki are in a completely messy order. I know there's a search engine, but can't they be ordered and structured somehow to provide an overview?
I think there should be sections for all continens (Africa, Americas, Asia, Europe, Middle East, Pacific Region) then subsections for countries and then all the operator pages. It's a pitty all this valuable information is in such a clutter.

Does anyone have experience with mobile access to the internet whilst cruising onboard a ship on the European waterways? Presently we are in Holland where we took on a contract + dongle with Telfort which works fine and costs only €20/month. Now we're moving on to Belgium, France and Germany and we're wondering what the best / cheapest solution is to access the internet. We found an offer from CanalDigital offering TV/Telephone/Internet for €45/month but that would mean having to buy a dish + decoder. And - we've been told - we would have to buy a contraption to line up the dish for the sattelite because of our continuous movement; both travelling around and moving whilst moored would necessitate that. Whta we're looking for is advice both on the internet-access question and the necessary apparatus. Thankx. Michel

"my wife and i are travelling extensively through europe next year for a month starting in frankfurt we will need internet access for the whole time throughout many countries whilst on trains etc who is the best provider with the laargest network and where do i get it from" Look for Vodafone Web Sessions on this Wiki from Vodafone Germany. This is the only SIM I know of that you can use in all countries for a predictable price. In Germany it is 5 euros a day, in all others that are on their list it's 15 euros. Quite expensive but for notebook browsing the only alternative is to get SIM cards in each country you travel in. If it's only for a mobile phone will little data use, some prepaid SIMs might have a good offer for you by next year as the EU telecoms regulator has just capped prices. It will take a bit before that sinks in. So if you only travel next year, it's better to wait a bit more before looking again, everything is very much in flux. Cheers, Martin

Fonic also allows occasional use for €0.24 per MB. Another big plus with Fonic is that you can make calls to US and any EU landline for 9ct per minute ! You can but the Fonic card ( €10 ) at any LIDL supermarket. LIDL is huge, so you should be able to find one in every city in Germany.

Prepaid data and voice plans in the Philippines you best get with Glober. You have to by a prepaid 3G sim card and can top up any amount. As unlimited dataplans are not available you should switch to time based service. 1h costs you 20 Peso (0,30Euro) counted in 15min steps. So even if you stay the whole day online it will cost you 7,20Euro but I hope you will not forget to sleep.

Prepaid data and voice plans in Malaysia can be well done by Celcom provider. You have to by a prepaid 3G sim card for 25MYR (5Euro) or more. 5MYR (1Euro) are for the SIM card. You can activate for daily unlimited dataplan with 6RMY and weekly for 20MYR. APN ist not necessary to type in.

Several providers now offer this service. Telstra has the fastest network using Next-G, and also have the best coverage. Recently we were in the Northern Territory. I have a Vodafone account, but coverage was minimal. I bought a Telstra prepaid SIM for $20 (with a 365 day life) and immediately converted $10 to a BROWSEPLUS data plan (100MB expiring in 30 days), leaving $10 for phone calls. To do this you just send an SMS to a designated number. Reception was pretty reasonable in the NT in major towns, and the Kakadu and Litchfield regions. Strangely, you get better value by repeatedly buying $10 worth of data than by buying the $29 Frequent use pack. Details are here http://www.telstra.com.au/mobile/prepaid/pluspacks.html

"Tchibo has a prepaid 3g stick. 3.6 mb/sec 20€ per month no contract, unlimited downloads but after 10 GB goes down to 128kb/s . Or 10€ per month 500mb limit. Stick costs 50€ with one month internet access included. After that pay as you go. No strings no tricks. In most cases by far the cheapest option.
www.tchibo.de" fonic.de is charging 2.50 EUR per day of usage. Ideal for occasional use.
